POLE IMPACT ANALYSIS

Pole Impact Analysis is a software package for analyzing vehicle versus utility pole impacts.  This software includes two analyses. The Find Delta V analysis allows the user to find the vehicle’s change in velocity by entering the vehicle’s weight and estimated impact speed.  This analysis will also tell the user if the pole is likely to shear under the assumed conditions.  The Find Impact Speed analysis allows the user to find the approximate impact speed by entering the vehicle’s weight and depth of maximum deformation.  This analysis uses two published methods to provide the investigator with an accurate speed range.  Please download the information sheet with screenshots here. 

Note: The Find Delta V analysis is only for class 4 utility poles and is only valid for vehicle's under five thousand pounds.
